Shelby County Elections

Information for the August 2nd County primary. Memphis, Tennessee is in Shelby County. There are more than 231,000 African American voters in Shelby County; however usual voter turnout in special elections is between 3% and 5%.

Tennessee is a Photo ID State. Acceptable Photo ID includes 

Photo ID with voter’s name, even if expired:
  • TN driver license or TN state ID
  • US Passport
  • ID issued by TN Department of Safety and Homeland Security
  • ID issued by federal or TN state government
  • US Military ID
  • TN handgun carry permit
NOTE: College student ID unacceptable
